Marchers needed for Solidarity Forever Parade – May 25, 2019
CUPE Manitoba is inviting CUPE members (and family members) to march with us in the Solidarity Forever Parade as part of the Winnipeg General Strike 100th Anniversary Celebrations. The CUPE Manitoba entry will feature a horse and cart,marching band and historical costumes.
The Solidarity Forever parade, will take place on Saturday, May 25. CUPE members will be meeting at 9:30 am at Bannatyne and Main Street – the parade will conclude at 12:00 pm.
The parade will start at the corner of Market Street and Lily Avenue (in the Exchange District) and make its way to Memorial Park (in front of the Manitoba Legislative Building) for the Solidarity Forever Community Concert presented by CUPE Manitoba. The concert will feature a fantastic line-up of musicians, a family fun zone (with bouncy castles, face painting and other fun activities for kids), a variety of food trucks and more!
Parade Period Costumes
If you are willing to march dressed in 1919 period clothing, CUPE Manitoba is able to provide you with a costume. The costumes have been provided by a theatre company and are of high quality and historically accurate. (Please note that we have limited costumes available).
