Important Update from our President

Good afternoon, as per our Divisional meeting this morning, we have been notified that there will be lay offs for all drivers, library technicians and EA’s due to being considered non-essential workers. This will be in effect on April 23rd. You will be expected to continue working until May 22nd as our Collective Agreement states that the Division must give us a 30 calendar day written notice. They will send your lay off notice via your PRSD email and via Canada Post.

There is a continuation of some issues that we feel need to be dealt with. Your union will continue to work on proposals to keep more members working and to protect your seniority, accruals and benefits.

Please contact the Executive members who have been directly involved with the Division dealing with the Covid 19 work shortage issue (Marty, Samantha, Nickole or myself). Also, please contact any Executive member if you have any CUPE-related questions, issues or concerns.

Please remember to check the local’s website for any updates we receive: 4701.cupe.ca

We are continually working on all members behalf for the betterment of this local.

Thank you,

Tracey Stephen
President
